Denver Botanic Gardens is hosting the first United States retrospective of Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa, whose serene oversized heads sit among the plantings through September 7 in a setting built to be walked rather than viewed from a gallery bench.
Plensa is known internationally for monumental public works, and A New Humanism threads his cast and carved figures through the outdoor gardens and indoor spaces, pairing the sculpture with seasonal blooms.
The exhibition is included with Gardens admission. Summer hours run to 8 p.m., and the York Street location has a parking complex across the street plus bus service from Cheesman Park.
