The east metro spends most of the year without a single big free night out, which is what makes Aurora's official Fourth of July celebration matter to anyone living between I-225 and the plains. It anchors Independence Day for Colorado's third-largest city on the open lawn at the Aurora Municipal Center.
Gates open at 6 PM on July 4, with live music and food trucks leading into a fireworks finale at roughly 9:30 PM. Admission is free and the lawn is open seating, so blankets and low chairs are the move.
The Great Lawn sits at 15151 E. Alameda Parkway. Arrive early to claim grass and to beat the parking crunch, because the lots around the civic center fill well before the music starts.
