DakhaBrakha is the reason to make the drive to Boulder: the Ukrainian quartet calls its sound ethno-chaos, stacking traditional village polyphony against cello, drums, and a wall of theatrical noise, in towering wool hats. Few touring acts are this unlike anything else on the calendar.
The all-ages show is 7:30 PM on July 22, with doors at 6:30, at Chautauqua Auditorium, the 1898 wood-frame hall at the foot of the Flatirons. The building itself is part of the draw, with no air conditioning and famously live acoustics.
Chautauqua parking is tight in summer and a permit system runs on busy nights, so arrive early or use the shuttle. Tickets are through the Chautauqua box office.
