The Georgetown Loop is a restored narrow-gauge railroad that spirals up Clear Creek Canyon, and the adults-only evening runs add live music at the Devil's Gate stop to the standard ride. History Colorado operates it, so the history is real, not a theme-park version.
Departures leave Silver Plume around 6:30 PM on June 27 and July 11, with parlor-car and coach options. The evening light on the canyon is the reason to take the later train over a daytime trip.
It is about an hour west of Denver off Interstate 70 at Georgetown. Tickets are timed to specific departures, so book the date and car class in advance.
