High Lonesome is the Colorado bluegrass band that local critics keep putting at the front of the line, and the Tuft is the room where you can actually hear why. Westword named the group's 2024 debut Best Bluegrass Album in its 2025 awards and listed the band among the state's top bluegrass acts in both 2024 and 2025.
Chuck Sitero leads the ensemble, which builds original songwriting and tight harmony over a hard-driving traditional base that wanders into jazz and jam territory. The Tuft Theatre is Swallow Hill's smaller listening room on South Broadway, where the nonprofit folk music school books acts meant to be heard up close rather than talked over.
