Kishi Bashi

Kishi Bashi builds his live show around looped violin layered into orchestral pop, a setup that turns a solo songwriter's set into something closer to a one-man chamber ensemble. Kaoru Ishibashi came up playing violin in Of Montreal and fronting the band Jupiter One before releasing records under the Kishi Bashi name, and the looping rig is the reason the show reads live rather than backing-track.
