Longmont does the increasingly rare double finale, a synchronized drone show followed by traditional fireworks, which makes its downtown Fourth worth the drive to the far north end of the metro. Two music stages carry the evening.
The celebration runs from 5 to 11 PM on July 4 along Emery Street at 2nd Avenue, with the drone show at 9:15 PM and fireworks at roughly 9:30 PM. Admission is free.
Downtown Longmont closes streets for the event, so park on the edges and walk in. The drone-then-fireworks sequence means the best sightlines fill early.
