Paul Cauthen at Mission Ballroom

Paul Cauthen sings country like a Texas preacher who took a wrong turn, a baritone big enough that fans call him Big Velvet and mean it as a description rather than a joke. The Book of Paul tour lands at Mission Ballroom on October 9.

Two openers are on the bill, which is more than the room usually gives: Rootbeer Richie and The Reveille, and Tristan Trincado. That pushes the headline set later, so the 8 PM listed start is when the night begins, not when Cauthen walks out.

The show is 16 and up and tickets start around $57, the cheapest of Mission Ballroom’s October bills. No venue lot; RiNo street parking or the A Line to 38th and Blake.
