Shonen Knife have been making sugar-rush pop-punk out of Osaka since 1981, beloved enough that Kurt Cobain put them on tour with Nirvana. The August 12 date at HQ, a small South Broadway room, splits into two sets: their Osaka Ramones tribute plus a run through Shonen Knife favorites.
Founder Naoko Yamano has kept the band going across four decades, and its live shows stay relentlessly upbeat.
