Denver drag has done Disney and done horror, and now it is doing the swamp. SHREK: The Drag Show is a one-night parody staged at MCA Denver’s Holiday Theater, cast straight through: Mario Wanna L’Whor as Shrek, Gila Moonstar as Fiona, Bootzy Edward Collins as Donkey, Talia Tucker L’Whor as Lord Farquaad, and Mother Daddy doubling as the Dragon and the Gingerbread Man.
Santana Trujillo choreographs. The premise is the movie’s premise, which is the joke: Farquaad exiles the fairytale creatures to an ogre’s swamp, and what comes back is dragons, magic mirrors, men in tights, and queer kings.
