Thornton gives the north metro a daylong, two-stage Fourth rather than a quick fireworks stop, which is why families settle in at Carpenter Park Fields for the afternoon. The open fields hold a big crowd without feeling packed.
Festivities run from noon onward on July 4 across two entertainment stages, with a parachute team dropping in near 9:30 PM right before the fireworks. Admission is free, with food and drink for purchase.
Carpenter Park sits at 11000 Colorado Boulevard, the same park that hosts the People and Produce farmers market on summer Thursdays. Parking fills fast near showtime, so come early and stake out grass.
