Downtown Westminster Drone Show and Battle of the Bands

Drone shows in Colorado have mostly been a Fourth of July and holiday thing, so a September one is unusual, and this one is bolted to four hours of teenage rock bands competing for a win. The City of Westminster runs it at Aerostat Park, 5750 West Central Avenue, on Saturday, September 26 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The bands come from School of Rock Broomfield, so the lineup is student performers playing in a battle format rather than a touring bill. Food trucks, local makers and beer service fill the hours between sets. The drone show itself is scheduled for roughly 7:45 p.m., once the sun is down over the old mall site.

The city, the Westminster Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Westminster Business Association run it together and list no admission charge. Come for the 7:45 p.m. flight if you only want the drones, but the good sightlines on a park lawn go early. Food and beer are sold, so bring a card.
