Free Things To Do in Denver This Weekend: October 9-11, 2026

A free Walk and Talk through the Arvada Center's 50th anniversary galleries opens Saturday morning with the curator and the artist's own family, La Noche Latina runs six hours of salsa and food at Stanley Marketplace with no cover, and Aurora gives its first responders a whole afternoon at Town Center, October 9-11, 2026.

Free Things To Do in Denver This Weekend: October 9-11, 2026

1. Civic Center EATS

Check the day before you drive, because EATS is a Wednesday and Thursday lunch, 11 AM to 2 PM, which puts it in front of this weekend rather than inside it. More than 50 food trucks line Bannock Street and the Civic Center meadow while the park is under construction, free to walk in, pay per item. October 15 is the last one, so there are two lunch windows left after this weekend. Then it is done for the year.

2. pARTy and Rigsby Revisited: The Arvada Center Turns 50

This is the weekend the free thing gets better. Saturday from 10 to 11 AM, curator Collin Parson walks Rigsby Revisited with the Rigsby family, no charge, through work from the first solo exhibition the Arvada Center ever mounted back in 1977. Across the hall, pARTy fills the Main Gallery with 18 artists for the Center's 50th, and both shows stay up through November 8 at 6901 Wadsworth Boulevard. Gallery hours are narrower than theater hours, so confirm before you commit to the drive.

3. 40 West Gallery Member Showcase (First Friday Opening)

The crowded night already happened. The biannual Member Showcase opened on First Friday and hangs at The HUB at 40 West Arts, 6501 West Colfax Avenue in Lakewood, through November 1, which makes this the weekend you can actually stand in front of a piece without somebody's elbow in it. Free, organized by the 40 West Arts District nonprofit, and the names on the walls are district members who live out here. The 5 to 9 PM window is a First Friday thing, so check posted hours for a regular Saturday.

4. Hometown Heroes Day at Town Center Aurora

Aurora hands over a Saturday afternoon to its first responders and military families, noon to 4 PM at Town Center at Aurora. Free admission and free parking, which is a shorter sentence than most event pages can manage. Four hours, no ticket, and the people getting thanked are the ones who actually live here.

5. La Noche Latina

Six hours of salsa dancing, food and shopping in the Stanley Marketplace Common Area, Saturday from 4 to 10 PM, with no ticket or cover listed. Stanley is indoors and in close-in Aurora rather than out on the plains, so an October forecast becomes somebody else's problem. Six free hours is long enough to show up late, eat first, and still learn the footwork.

Quick answers

What is happening in Denver this weekend, October 9-11, 2026?
Saturday is the whole weekend on the free side: the Arvada Center's Walk and Talk through Rigsby Revisited with curator Collin Parson from 10 to 11 AM, Hometown Heroes Day at Town Center at Aurora from noon to 4, and La Noche Latina in the Stanley Marketplace Common Area from 4 to 10 PM. Friday and Sunday are gallery days, with the 40 West Member Showcase up in Lakewood through November 1 and the Arvada Center's two 50th anniversary shows up through November 8. Civic Center EATS is a Wednesday and Thursday lunch, so it brackets the weekend instead of landing in it.
What free things are there to do in Denver this weekend?
All five picks here are free: Civic Center EATS on Bannock Street, 11 AM to 2 PM Wednesday and Thursday with pay-per-item food; the pARTy and Rigsby Revisited galleries at the Arvada Center, plus Saturday's 10 AM Walk and Talk; the 40 West Gallery Member Showcase at The HUB in Lakewood; Hometown Heroes Day at Town Center at Aurora, noon to 4 Saturday; and La Noche Latina at Stanley Marketplace, 4 to 10 PM Saturday. Hometown Heroes Day throws in free parking and Stanley has its own lot, so two of these cost you nothing at all. The galleries are free any day they are open, which makes them the Sunday answer.
