Record stores used to be where you heard a record first, and Wax Trax is briefly putting that back. The shop’s Stanley Marketplace location hosts an official early listen to PYLON, the new Beabadoobee album, in a single one-hour window before it is out in the world.
It is an hour, not a show. Attendees get sticker and button packs, and one person leaves with a PYLON test pressing, the pre-production copy pressed to check a record before the full run. Wax Trax is running it as an official label listening event, which is why the audio exists at all ahead of release.
This happens inside Stanley Marketplace at 2501 Dallas Street in Aurora, the old aviation factory now full of shops and restaurants, with free parking on site. No cover is listed on the marketplace calendar. A one-hour window on a Saturday afternoon means showing up at 4 rather than 4:45.
