Before Denver had much of a modern art scene, John Edward Thompson was helping build one. This Denver Art Museum exhibition, opening July 19, 2026, gathers the work of a painter who carried European modernist ideas back to Colorado in the early twentieth century and taught a generation of local artists to see differently.
The show is included with general admission, and youth 18 and under get in free every day. The museum sits in the Golden Triangle at 100 W 14th Ave Pkwy, with paid parking in the Cultural Center garage off 12th Avenue.
