A drag show designed for a Deaf audience is a rare booking in any city, and Denver has one on a Saturday morning in September. The brunch benefits DOVE, Deaf Overcoming Violence through Empowerment, the Denver nonprofit five Deaf women founded in 1999 to advocate for Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and hard of hearing survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. DOVE runs a statewide 24-hour crisis line, so the money stays with the same community the show is built for.
Charlie's is a long-running LGBTQ bar at 900 E Colfax Ave, better known for its dance floor and country nights than for morning programming, so a benefit brunch puts the room to a different use. The venue's own calendar is where the date is confirmed.
