Denver dance matriarch Cleo Parker Robinson puts her company on stage with the full Colorado Symphony for Stravinsky's The Firebird, and her interpretation is not the usual Slavic fairy tale: the staging moves to the Hawaiian Islands, with the Firebird danced as Pele, the volcano goddess. It is three performances only at Boettcher Concert Hall, October 23 to 25.
The program rounds out with Elgar's Introduction and Allegro and John Williams' Horn Concerto. Friday and Saturday curtains are 7:30 PM; Sunday is a 1 PM matinee. Tickets start around $64.
