Nerd Nite is a lecture series that decided the lecture hall was the problem. Three people who actually know something get 20 minutes each, the audience drinks through it, and the questions afterward are the good part. Denver's chapter runs monthly out of the Bug Theatre, which puts the whole thing in a century-old north Denver playhouse instead of a university basement.
The format is fixed and the subject matter is not. Past Denver nights have covered urban drainage law, Godzilla, the history of radio, sign language, and voice-over work as a career, usually three unrelated topics on the same bill. Speakers pitch themselves through an open talk-proposal form, so the lineup is local people riding a specialty rather than a touring circuit.

Jaume Plensa: A New Humanism at Denver Botanic Gardens
Apr 18 - Sep 7 · Denver Botanic Gardens
Doors and start are at 7 PM, running to about 9 PM. Tickets sell through the Nerd Nite Denver link and the Bug sells beer, so bring ID. Navajo Street parking is street-only in a residential block, the room is small, and these sell through, so buying ahead beats walking up.
