The director shows up, and it costs nothing. RaMell Ross adapted Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer-winning novel into a film that earned Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay nominations, and he is coming to a small Highland movie house to talk about how he did it.
Denver Public Library programs this through One Book One Denver as part of its From Page to Screen series. Ross walks through the adaptation itself: the first-person camera the film is built on, translating Elwood and Turner to screen, and the real reform-school history behind the fictional Nickel Academy.
