If an Owl Calls Your Name at The People's Building

A 92-minute documentary about residential school survivors is not the kind of film that gets a Denver theatrical run, which is the whole argument for a free one-night screening in a room where people can talk afterward.

The film follows Patricia June Vickers and Roy Henry Vickers along with elders, healers and activists from Esk'etemc, Gitxsan and Wet'suwet'en territories as they describe lives shaped by forced assimilation and the work of recovering language, land and ceremony. Experience Change and The Road Less Traveled Counseling Center are presenting it.
