Repertory screenings are common; pairing one with a working scientist is not. Denver Film’s sci-fi series shows Hayao Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke and then hands the microphone to a Denver Museum of Nature & Science researcher to dig into the ecology and myth behind the film.
Critic Lisa Kennedy hosts the July 22 screening at the Sie FilmCenter on East Colfax, the city’s main arthouse cinema. The post-film discussion ties the movie’s forest gods and human-nature conflict to real science.
