Sugar Skull! is the rare kids' show that treats Dia de Muertos as a living tradition rather than a costume. The bilingual touring musical follows a girl and a candy skeleton through the holiday's music and meaning, with a score that moves through son jarocho and cumbia.
The performance is Sunday, October 11 at the Lakewood Cultural Center, three weeks ahead of the holiday itself. The city lists it as family programming; tickets run through the LCC box office.
