Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats is a band that got big without ever quite surfacing, which is what makes a Denver date worth texting a friend about. Kevin Starrs started the group in Cambridge, England, self-released 'Blood Lust' in 2011 in a run small enough that copies traded for real money, and let word of mouth and a Rise Above reissue do the rest. The band famously avoided press and photos for years.

The sound is fuzzed-out occult doom and psych, and the live show leans on projections and low light rather than stage banter. The audience it pulls in Denver is the same one that turns out for heavy psych bills on South Broadway, so expect the room to feel like a scene night rather than a tour stop.
